Def Leppard has released (i.e. posted on social media) “Behind The World Tour” videos, providing a fun, behind-the-scenes glimpse at the band’s international shows.
Highlights from “Episode 1” (in Mexico City and Monterrey) include watching Joe Elliott and Rick Savage practice their acoustic rendition of “When Love and Hate Collide” (and Joe briefly forgetting the words). Interestingly, Joe also makes a reference in the video to Mexico City’s altitude being one-and-a-half miles above sea level during his “Captain’s Log” portion, followed by a deep breath to make the point. (Unfortunately, Joe would suffer altitude sickness and a brief hospitalization the following week.)
The video is nearly 8 minutes long and illustrates that The World Tour (and Def Leppard’s brand, for that matter) remains extremely popular, whether in the U.S., Latin America, or elsewhere in the world. Pardon the pun, but “hysteria” follows the band wherever they go, one example (as seen in the video) being the band needing a police escort to get to the concert venue on time.

It’s nice to see an appreciative and humbled Def Leppard enjoying these moments, not to mention the “spectacular” receptions from international audiences.
