Joe Elliott Hospitalized Briefly In Bogota (Updated)

Update:

Def Leppard and Joe Elliott released a video from Bogota regarding the “moderate-to-severe” altitude sickness he was experiencing. (“I am alive and well. A little woozy, I’ll be honest…”)

The video ends with Joe adamantly saying, “I’m here and we are going on at 8 PM.” (And Def Leppard did just that — the show went on as scheduled.)

There have been reports online that Joe Elliott was hospitalized in Bogota due to shortness of breath (i.e. respiratory issues, “dyspnea”) in the past day, but has since been released.

Def Leppard is scheduled to perform at the Parque Simon Bolivar in Bogota, Colombia, tonight (February 25), and as of now, the show date (with Motley Crue) is still happening.

Def Leppard’s official social media accounts have not released a statement at this time specifically about Joe’s brief hospitalization. Still, they did make sure to reiterate that the Bogota show date was happening as planned, notably capitalizing the word “ON.” Here is the band’s Instagram post:

“BOGOTA – the show is still ON for tonight at Parque Simon Bolivar! We’re ready to rock and roll with the fans in Colombia!”

It may be worth noting that Bogota’s elevation is a whopping 8,660 ft above sea level, and altitude sickness (and one of its main symptoms being shortness of breath) is quite common there. For context, in the high-altitude U.S. city of Denver, Colorado, the elevation is approximately 5,300 ft., and many experience altitude sickness there — Bogota is over 3,000 ft higher!
